TARI Naliendele advises Farmers to use improved groundnut varieties

Groundnut growers have been advised to use improved
groundnut varieties for increasing yields, productivity and contributing to the economic growth of the country.
The advice was given by Dr. Happy Daudi Research Scientist and National Coordinator of Groundnut Research Program. Dr. Daudi was speaking to Farmers at Matangini Village in Nachingwea District Council (DC) during a training on groundnut preservation techniques.
"She advised farmers to invest on groundnuts production and contribute in reducing edible oil importation. Speaking on behalf of farmers who attended the training, Ms Diana Konja and Mr. Binasa Chijumba from Matangini Village in Nachingwea District thanked TARI Naliendele for providing them with improved seeds which have higher yields and are tolerant to disease compared to the local varieties.
During the training Dr. Chris Ojiewo AVISA project coordinator from CIMMTY based in Nairobi, Kenya, was among resource persons.
