TARI IFAKARA CONDUCTED RICE FARMER FIELD DAY AT MALINYI DISTRICT-MOROGORO

Researchers from Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute, Ifakara center in collaboration with the Malinyi District Agriculture Department have celebrated the Rice Farmer's Day held on 06/21/2023 held at Itete irrigation scheme in Malinyi District. In the celebration, A total of 72 were participated where 50 farmers among them 18 women and 32 men have participated. From Malinyi District Office 12 experts led by Mr. Martin Mhode a Malinyi District Agriculture Officer (DAICO), while Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute, Ifakara Center, 10 Researchers led by Center Manager Dr. Emmanuel Mgonja and Senior Researcher and National Rice Crop Coordinator Dr. Ibrahim Hashim participated.

However, farmers have been involved in the selection of the best rice seeds with the aim of identifying and choosing the most satisfactory and productive seeds according to the ecology and climatic changes.

On his part, the District Agriculture Officer Mr. Martin Mhode has thanked the Tanzania Agricultural Institute for involving them and bringing to the rice farmers in Malinyi district the best seeds that are productive and compatible with the climate changes.

Center Manager of TARI-Ifakara Dr Emmanuel Mgonja has also thanked the leadership of Malinyi District and all the farmers for giving great cooperation in celebrating this rice farmer's day in Malinyi district while emphasizing the farmers on the use of the best productive rice seeds and promised to continue doing these collaborations regularly when TARI develops research activities, especially on the rice crop.
