Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) via Ukiriguru Center recently conducted a Farmers Field Day which was well coordinated by Technology transfer and partnership (TT&P) department held at Buganda village, Bulemeji ward in Misungwi district.

Event Date: 01-01-1970

Venue:

Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) via Ukiriguru Center recently conducted a Farmers Field Day which was well coordinated by Technology transfer and partnership (TT&P) department held at Buganda village, Bulemeji ward in Misungwi district.

Mr Seperatus Kamuntu a researcher from TARI Ukiriguru on behalf of Center Director, addressing to farmers the role TARI Ukiriguru and the significance of using improved cassava varieties as compared to local varieties.

The main objective of this Farm Field Day (FFD)was to promote/popularize the use of improved cassava varieties from TARI- Ukiriguru which are resistant from Cassava Brown Streak Disease (CBSD) and Cassava mosaic disease (CMD). However, the improved cassava varieties have high yield potential of 25- 50 t/ha as compared to local cassava varieties which yields 8-10t/ha. Beside using improved cassava varieties, Farmers were also insisted to adhere to good agricultural practices (GAPs) pertained to cassava production so that they get the actual yield potential.
