MKINGA AND KILINDI FARMERS EXCITED TO INCREASE YIELDS BY ADOPTING GAP

TARI Selian Researchers have
conducted a farmers and field officers training on Good Agricultural (GAP)
Practices for bean cultivation at Mkinga and Kilindi District in Tanga.
The training was attended by a total of 77 farmers, among which females were 28, males were 49. 13 field officers whereas male were 7 and 6 female were trained so as to start demonstration plots in their respective wards so as other farmers were to learn from them.
The training introduced farmers and field officers on new varieties of high ion beans, also the benefits of bio fortified beans with high ion and Zinc.
At the end of the training farmers realized that they will increase yields by adopting good agricultural practices (GAP).
Adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) has a potential to increase household food security and income.
