TARI DG Dr. Mkamilo calls for efficient seed distribution to farmers
The  Director General of Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute  Dr Geoffrey Mkamilo has called for efficient seed distribution to farmers for timely and increased productivity.
Dr. Mkamilo said this when he paid an official visit at TARI Kibaha Centre, on 15 March, 2023 and met leaders and officials.
Dr Mkamilo said that  the priority of TARI was to ensure that farmers in the country had sufficient and seeds with due standards in order to improve productivity.
"TARI Kibaha has the mandate and capability to conduct research on sugarcane hence it is very important that the results of such studies should lead to better agronomic practices and high quality seeds distributed to farmers", said Dr. Mkamilo.
He further said that sugarcane research was very vital in supporting the local industries in sugar production
Apart from sugar crop,  Dr Mkamilo said that TARI Kibaha could find other sources to facilitate cassava and sweet pototatoes seed production.
Meanwhile, TARI Kibaha Centre Manager Dr Nessie Luambano assured the Director General that the Centre would continue working hard to support the government initiatives on sugarcane and seed production.
