MARKET SEGMENTATION TRAINING HELD IN GEITA AT KATOMA HILL HOTEL RECENTLY.

A total of 35
people participated in a two-day workshop on market segmentation for sweet
potato vines held in Geita region, at Katoma Hill Hotel recently. The workshop
was funded by PROSSIVA Project (a collaborative Project between TARI and CIP
aiming at strengthening sweet potato seed system in Tanzania).
The workshop
focused at gathering information and data for the market segmentation as viewed
by a wide range of stakeholders in sweet potato seed value chain of various seed
classes. The participants were the sweet potato seed producers, processors,
farmers and agricultural extension officers from Simiyu, Mara, Gita and Kagera
regions. Also, partners from CIP Tanzania and Uganda participated. The workshop
was officially opened by Dr. Alphonce (DALFO- Geita DC). In Tanzania the
PROSSIVA project is coordinated by Dr. Hadija Ally from TARI Ukiriguru.
