The Minister of Agriculture Mr. Hussein Bashe has instructed the new Board of Directors of TARI to ensure that it ends the problem of shortage of quality seeds in the country.

Mr. Bashe issued the directive today (September 27, 2022) while inaugurating the new Board of Directors of TARI in Dodoma and handing them with documents that will help them in the implementation of their duties.

He urged the Board to ensure that all TARI centres have the needed infrastructure to support the production of quality seeds. Also the Minister reiterated on the urgent need to fence all TARI land to prevent the invasion by communities surrounding those areas.

"Set goals. Come up with a strategy on how to completely end the problem of quality seeds within the three years of your leadership at least with strategic crops and make sure that the seeds reach the farmers to end the problem of seeds in the country" said Mr. Bashe.

 He further added that in order for the country to be self-sufficient in food, the we need to be self-sufficient with quality seeds.

On their part, the new Chair of the Board of Directors of TARI Dr. Tausi Kida and has promised to effectively and practically implement all the directives given by the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Hussein Bashe.
