TARI Shines in 2023 Farmers Exhibitions

Tanzania Agricultural
Research Institute (TARI) scooped First Winner Prize among research
institutions category during the International and National Agricultural shows popularly
known as Nane Nane which was held from 1st – 8th August 2023
at John Mwakangale Ground in Mbeya City.
The Prize was received
following outstanding performance in exhibiting improved agricultural
technologies through the booths and field demonstration plots.
TARI was able to demonstrate
its role as key research institution with a national mandate to conduct and
coordinate agricultural research across the country.
Despite participating at
National and International level in Mbeya, TARI also showed its presence at
farmers exhibitions conducted at zonal levels where it received top three
Prizes.
At Ngongo grounds, Lindi
region, TARI through TARI Naliendele Centre, emerged winner as the best
institution under the category of institutions dealing with Research activities
in Agriculture, Fisheries and livestock.
At Fatma Mwasa ground, Tabora
region, TARI through TARI Tumbi (Tabora) and TARI Kihinga (Kigoma) Centres, become
the winner under the category of institutions dealing with Research activities
in Agriculture, Fisheries and livestock and the third best in overall
performance.
In Eastern Zone, where the
exhibitions were held at Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere Grounds, Morogoro
Municipality, TARI through TARI Mlingano (Tanga), TARI Ilonga (Kilosa), TARI
Dakawa (Morogoro), TARI Mikocheni (DSM), TARI Ifakara, TARI Kibaha (Pwani) was
awarded third winner Prize in the category of Ministry, Government Institutions,
Crop Boards and Public Companies and the fourth best in overall performance.
At Nyakabindi Ground, Bariadi
Simiyu region, and Nyamuhomgoro groundsin Mwanza region, TARI participated
through TARI Ukiriguru and TARI Maruku (Kagera), emerged winner in both grounds
by receiving first prizes in each of the two grounds.
In the Central Zone Dodoma,
TARI through TARI Makutupora and TARI Hombolo scooped second Winner Prize under
the category of Institutions that deals with Research activities.
The situation was slightly
different at Kyakairabwa exhibition ground in Bukoka District, Kagera Region,
where there was no contest but TARI through its Centre TARI Maruku participated
in the exhibitions organized by Kagera region and was recognized with a certificate
of Honour for its contribution to agricultural sector.
