The Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DTIF), often called Sabasaba, is an annual event that Tantrade organizes in partnership with both the public and private sectors. This event occurs every year from June 28 to July 13, featuring a range of themes. The theme for the 2025 fair was "Sabasaba International Trade Fair, the pride of Tanzania" – "Maonesho ya Kibiashara ya Kimataifa Sabasaba, Fahari ya Tanzania." The main goal of the DITF is to give exhibitors a stage to display their products, services, and technologies, while also allowing them to access new markets and explore fresh opportunities. In addition, the fair fosters connections between local and international traders, helping them exchange experiences, discover new markets, and learn about innovative technologies.
TARI took part in the exhibition by showcasing its technologies from sixteen (16) centers. TARI Mikocheni was among sixteen (16) TARI centers managed to participate during the DITF by showcasing four (4) different agricultural technologies namely Quality coconut seedlings, Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) production, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Tissue Culture Technology. TARI engaged with 19,755 agricultural stakeholders (8,221 men and 8,230 women) and had 3,304 children under the age of ten who visited the TARI pavilion to learn about and purchase different technologies.
Furthermore, 2,840 leaflets covering 46 titles were distributed to agricultural stakeholders who came to the TARI pavilion. Additionally, the institute has successfully reached various stakeholders through multiple media channels, including social media, television, and newspapers.
On July 7, 2025, the event was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, President of the Zanzibar Revolution, while Prime Minister Hon. Kassim Majaliwa officially closed the event on July 13, 2025. The Institute secured second place in the Agriculture and Fisheries Institutes category, awarded a shield and a certificate to symbolize TARI's achievement, as depicted in Figure 1.
