Tumbi Research Center under the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI)
The main role of this center is to coordinate and conduct agricultural forestry research in the country. The center also conducts research on other crops such as cassava and sweet potatoes; maize (T104,T105 and TH501), sorghum (TARISO R1 and TARISO R2) rice, cashews and mangoes; in collaboration with other stations.
Other crops being studied are legumes, oilseeds (sunflower and peanuts) and horticultural crops. The center also conducts soil research and water conservation and socio-economic development. Along with the research center the technology spreads technology to farmers and other stakeholders.
