TANZANIA AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE

DISSEMINATION PATHWAY
  • TARI (Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute) employs multiple dissemination pathways to ensure that research findings and agricultural technologies effectively reach farmers, extension officers, policymakers, and other stakeholders. These pathways combine both traditional and modern communication approaches to maximize reach and impact.
  • Here are the main dissemination pathways used by TARI:
    • Demonstration Plots and Farmer Field Days
    • TARI establishes on-station and on-farm demonstration plots where farmers can learn by observing improved technologies in practice.
    • Farmer field days are organized to showcase research results and facilitate farmer–researcher interaction.
    • Training and Capacity Building
    • TARI conducts training sessions and workshops for farmers, extension officers, youth, and women groups on new technologies and best agricultural practices.
    • Training manuals and guidelines are developed and distributed to participants.
    • Mass Media Platforms
    • Radio and TV Programs: TARI partners with national and community media to broadcast agricultural education programs.
    • Newspapers and Magazines: Articles, features, and success stories are published to raise awareness of new technologies.
    • Social Media and Digital Platforms
    • TARI uses social media platforms such as Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube, and Instagram to share research updates, videos, infographics, and announcements.
    • The TARI website serves as a central hub for publications, research outputs, and downloadable materials.
    • Print Materials
    • Technologies are documented and shared through leaflets, brochures, posters, flyers, and newsletters, written in simple language for easy understanding by farmers and stakeholders.
    •
    • Agricultural Exhibitions and Trade Fairs
    • TARI actively participates in national and regional exhibitions such as Sabasaba and Nanenane, where it displays new technologies, varieties, and innovations.
    • Collaborations with Extension Services and Partners
    • TARI works with the Ministry of Agriculture, LGAs (Local Government Authorities), NGOs, and development partners to reach farmers through established extension networks.
    • Research Publications and Technical Papers
    • Findings are published in scientific journals, bulletins, and policy briefs to inform decision-makers, researchers, and development partners.
    • Community-Based Approaches
    • TARI promotes Innovation Platforms, Farmer Groups, and Cooperatives as channels for peer-to-peer learning and technology adoption at the grassroots level.
    • ICT and Mobile Platforms

Use of SMS services, mobile apps, and interactive voice response  systems to provide real-time agricultural advice and updates.
